Adding Greenery to your Space

A bit of greenery in your space is always a good idea. It adds life to your room and a wonderful bit of color too. I made this topiary from an urn that I found. I dressed it up a bit with some furniture moulds and paint, then created a topiary out of some rosemary greenery and a stick that I found while on a walk.

Adding Texture and Warmth to Your Spaces

Baskets, grain sacks, and nubby fabrics are all wonderful items to add texture to a space. Especially if you have neutral or white walls in your home.

Old books and statuary add warmth and character.

The patina on these beautiful items adds such character to a space. It speaks of a life well lived. The things in our homes can tell a story if we let them. They can tell the story of us, the homeowner; hint to our personalities, likes, and mood. These items can also tell their own story.

When you come across a vintage and well loved object, isn't it fun to try and imagine the life it once lived or the people who owned it before you? I think that's why I love vintage items so much. Each piece has a story to tell.

I love French design and the way that it incorporates both the old and the new, the rustic and the elegant. It's very timeless and comfortable at the same time.

The next time you're out thrifting or shopping for vintage treasures, be on the lookout for things with wonderful signs of age. Pieces that are rustic and worn, nubby fabrics, grain sacks, or old books. These are great ways to add texture and warmth to your spaces.
